Before the first check-in: five decisions for Syros hotel owners
Before the season begins, agree five decisions. Each needs an owner and a review point.
1. Define the season goal
Discuss the occupancy, net revenue and guest experience you are trying to achieve. A channel generating more bookings does not alone justify a rate change: check cancellations, commissions and the overall result.
2. Assign rate and availability ownership
Agree who changes rates, who updates availability and who checks consistency across live channels. Record when owner approval is required.
3. Connect reception with housekeeping
Before the first arrival, map the sequence from departure and cleaning to inspection and room handover. Name who updates the team when an arrival time changes.
4. Plan critical roles
Map peak dates, shifts and roles you cannot leave uncovered. Start recruitment early enough to allow time for training and onboarding.
5. Agree owner reporting
A short weekly update on bookings, notable changes, guest issues and next week’s decisions helps the team act in time. Agree its format before the engagement starts.
