Hotel or villa website: seven checks before asking for more direct bookings
Before paying for more traffic, check whether a guest can choose a room or villa and complete a booking on a phone.
1. Start on a phone
Open the home page on a phone, find the booking action and try to check dates. Record any step where the page makes reading or choosing difficult.
2. Show exactly what guests can book
Each room type or villa needs its own photos, occupancy, essential amenities and clear differences from other options. Check that descriptions match the booking engine.
3. Answer questions before asking for details
Show location, access, check-in and check-out times, cancellation terms and what the price includes. If an amenity varies by villa, say so on that villa’s page.
4. Test the full booking path
Follow every Book button from the home page, room pages and menu. Confirm it lands on the right room and dates, and works on a phone. Test the flow without placing a real paid booking.
5. Check speed and content
Avoid unnecessarily large images and test key pages on a slower connection. Give each important page a clear, distinct title and description, and link pages with meaningful names. Technical changes cannot guarantee a specific ranking.
6. Track the source of interest
Count enquiries and booking-engine clicks from each key page. Where data is available, compare with completed bookings, cancellations and channel costs. A click is not a booking.
7. Prioritize the next changes
Fix broken links, incorrect information and booking obstacles first. Then improve room presentation, images and answers to guest questions. Repeat the check after each change.
